Integrating R&D resources and improving innovation capabilities, the company has established a technology center and the Hubei Provincial New Energy Materials and Devices Industrial Technology Innovation Union, in cooperation with universities such as Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hubei University, and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), to achieve technological innovation and transformation of achievements; making full use of the postdoctoral research workstation to build a key technology source and a scientific and technological innovation industrial platform.

The company has strong R&D capabilities and is at the forefront of the industry in R&D and engineering technology. It also attracts outstanding talents who have graduated from many well-known universities at home and abroad. The disciplines cover materials, energy, mechanical equipment, electrical engineering, chemistry and other fields, and have cultivated and created a large-scale, scientifically structured, high-quality, and tiered scientific and technological talent team.
Adhering to independent research and development and paying attention to industry-university-research cooperation, the company has established a cooperative research and development model with well-known domestic universities and research institutes. At present, the joint R&D center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wanrun New Energy Materials has been jointly established with Huang Yunhui’s team at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, focusing on key battery materials, battery recycling, and new battery materials; a technology development contract has been signed with Shen Xiang’s team at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) for joint research and development of sodium-ion materials, silicon-carbon anode materials, and hard carbon anode materials; high-capacity, long-stability high-lithium iron oxide, lithium manganese iron phosphate, and sodium battery cathode layered nickel cobalt manganese titanium materials are jointly developed with Su Xin’s team at Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai); new electrolytes such as lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide are jointly developed with Liu Jianwen’s team at Hubei University; and an experimental center is jointly established with Ma Yanan’s team at Hubei Automotive Industry College for industry-university-research cooperation in the fields of lithium battery materials and sodium battery materials.

Intellectual Property
The company has always adhered to the principle of combining technological innovation with intellectual property protection, and comprehensively improving its ability to create, use, and manage intellectual property. A complete intellectual property management framework has been established, and intellectual property management system certification has been continuously passed, and the “Intellectual Property Management System” has been formulated and issued; at the same time, following the company’s overseas expansion, actively deploying overseas patents, and promoting patent applications in overseas countries and regions such as Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and India. In addition, in 2022, the company was recognized as a national intellectual property advantage enterprise and successfully recognized as a “national intellectual property advantage enterprise” by the State Intellectual Property Office.
The company actively takes the lead in and participates in the research and development of relevant standards. It has participated in the formulation or revision of more than 30 national and industry standards related to lithium battery cathode materials, sodium-ion battery materials, and green and low-carbon technologies. These standards cover more than 10 areas, including lithium-ion battery cathode materials, lithium cobalt oxide batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries, and doped and coated nickel cobalt aluminum lithium oxide batteries, providing references for industry production, manufacturing, and product performance testing, and promoting the standardized development of the industry.
